Elizabeth Clark Fundraiser |
"Because
We Can!"
This letter appeared in the Cheers & Jeers section of The Journal Gazette on Saturday, July 30, 2005.
CHEERS to the Fort Wayne theater community and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fort Wayne for presenting "Because We Can", a benefit to aid our 20-month-old daughter, Elizabeth, who is fighting neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer.
CHEERS to those who participated, the Civic Theater, the Fort Wayne Youtheatre, Arena Dinner Theatre, First Presbyterian Theatre, and the 24 Hour Playhouse. CHEERS also to Wayne Williams and John Commoroto, Jr., for contributing their works. A special CHEERS to Orene Colcord and the rest of the board of the 24 Hour Playhouse who conceived, planned, and implemented this wonderful evening.
CHEERS to all who attended, and those who could not attend but sent a donation. Even more than the money donated is the feeling of love and support by our community.
Our good news is that in January, when Elizabeth was
diagnosed, her bones were 95 percent full of cancer and she had two tumors, one
on her spine and one in her abdomen.
As of now, all
signs of cancer are gone!!! (Yeah!)

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fort Wayne sponsored “Because We Can!”, a performance benefit for the Clark family whose (then) 16-month old daughter, Elizabeth, was being treated at Riley Children’s Hospital for cancer.
This event showcased scenes, music, and dance performed by local performing artists from Arena Dinner Theatre, First Presbyterian Theater, Fort Wayne Civic Theatre, Fort Wayne Youththeatre, IPFW Department of Theatre, the 24hour Playhouse, and more.
This fundraising event has raised to date: $8,051.77!
Thank you all for your heartfelt contributions to this family!
