Darfur - How We Can Help |
Clothing Drive for Darfur
Toni Kring has let me know that the clothing drive for Darfurian refugees will take place every two weeks at the Rialto Theater. The next one will be May 3 from 11-3. There is a big need for shoes and clothing for all seasons. The desert is very cold at night so warm clothes are welcome. These donations will go to refugees in camps in Chad, the neighboring country to Darfur.
English Tutors Needed
Darfurian adult refugees in the Fort Wayne area need to learn English in order to better communicate in the community and to find employment. Many have basic English skills but need to increase their vocabulary, improve their pronunciation, and learn correct verb tenses. They are eager to learn and are hard workers.
At this time we are recruiting volunteers to help for an hour or more a week with individuals or small groups. We will match your availability with the Darfurians. Sessions will occur in a local church or at area libraries.
Call (260-745-1324) or email Toni Kring (tkring47@aol.com) to share best times and days of the week. Questions may also be directed to Toni. Thank you.
