It's Time for the Call to Folk!
The Folk Orchestra plays again this spring and new members are welcome!
What IS a folk orchestra? I would define a folk orchestra as a group of people making music together using whatever instruments they happen to have. There is no set instrumentation, no pre-defined level of skill required, and no age limit.
What instrument could I play? Instruments may include drums, tambourine, shaker, accordion, guitar, banjo, bass, recorder, and song flute, as well as standard band and orchestral instruments. There are some rhythm instruments available that may be used by those who don’t own anything, but would like to participate.
How can this possibly work? I write parts after I find out which instruments we have available and what skill levels are represented.
When do we practice? We will practice before services in the sanctuary from 9:00 to 9:50 A.M. for about 6 weeks beforehand, starting March 16. April 27 is the date for sharing our music with the congregation.
Please contact me as soon as possible, at church or at home if you are interested or would like more information. I would like a commitment now in order to write for
