Earth Spirit Circle

What is the Earth Spirit Circle of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation?

We are an eclectic group of people who share a number of beliefs about spirituality.  While there is no dogmatic set of beliefs shared by us all, most of us can agree on a few basic principles:

¨       Divinity is immanent in all of nature, which is as much female as male (the Goddess)

¨       There are multiple paths to the Divine, as symbolized by many goddesses and gods, often viewed as archetypes or gateways into the unconscious

¨       An ethics and morality based on the avoidance of harm to other beings and Mother Earth, which mandates social activism and environmentalism as a religious responsibility

¨       The importance of celebrating the solar and lunar cycles of our lives, leading to revival of old customs (and the invention of new ones!).  Ritual is a big part of this celebration of life.

¨       And, we wish to foster a co-operative way of helping each other make ritual personal and a meaningful part of everyday life.

What do we do at our meetings?

We have done celebratory rituals such as the Winter & Summer Solstices and working rituals such as healing or manifestation rituals.  We have had lectures and study groups on such diverse subjects as Daoism, the Upanishads, and the Kalachakra (a member of our group was privileged to be in attendance in Bloomington when the Dalai Lama was there).  We drum and dance, chant and sing, do silent and guided meditations, and share food, drink, and what is happening in our lives.

 Where do we meet?

At the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fort Wayne, 5310 Old Mill Road.

 When do we meet?

Our schedule has changed, due to our hectic lives.  Check back in January 2007.

Interweave Services

Interweave Continental is an association of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered persons and their allies, affiliated in the United States with the Unitarian Universalist Association.  We meet at 7:30 PM every Sunday here at the Meeting House.  The service is usually led by Noel Maze.  It is the mission of your local Interweave Chapter to provide a place of safety and respect for its members to experience, explore, and express their spirituality.
