UUCFW proudly joins some 18 local Christian and Jewish congregations in supporting Wellspring Interfaith Social Services (the former West Central Neighborhood Ministry).
Serving Fort Wayne’s core community since 1968, Wellspring is constantly broadening its services to other underserved neighborhoods, including those in the city’s south and east sides. Its intergenerational programs serve children, youth, families and seniors. In 2005, its food bank provided enough food for nearly 43,000 meals. Its free summer day camp programs involved 430 children aged 4 to 16 in dance, art, music and yoga activities, and its free week-long overnight camp reached more than 50 youth. In the course of the year, it directly affected the lives of more than 2,000 individuals through more than 25,000 client contacts. For more information on Wellspring, see www.wellspringinterfaith.org, or call 260- 422-6618. Our congregation’s point of contact for Wellspring is our Social Action and Service Department.
CURRENT
NEEDS:
Wellspring's
Pantry, serving the needs of the west-central neighborhoods along
Broadway Street and others along the Calhoun Street corridor, has an ongoing
need for flour and cooking oil.
Please remember to pick up an extra package of flour or bottle of cooking
oil when you do your family shopping, and leave them in the marked container by
the door to the Social Hall.
We’ll continue this collection throughout the coming year.

As part of the overall ministry of the Unitarian Universalist Association (www.uua.org), UUCFW supports Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP), a coalition of 21 public policy offices of national churches and agencies -- Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant. CMEP began its work in 1984 out of the conviction that the policy perspectives and long Middle East experience of our member bodies should be more widely known in the public policy arena. It therefore seeks to maintain an on-going dialogue with Congress, the Administration and the diplomatic community, to advance such concerns, assessments, and advocacy positions. Our congregation’s point of contact for Wellspring is our Social Action and Service Department. See www.cmep.org for additional information on CMEP.
As part of our outreach in the Heartland District of the Unitarian Universalist community, UUCFW supports the Interfaith Coalition on Nondiscrimination (ICON), an Indiana-based nonprofit membership organization whose mission is to advocate justice for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered (GLBT) people. In particular, it seeks to identify, unite, and give powerful voice to religious organizations and individuals in Indiana who support fair treatment of GLBT people. For additional information on ICON and its activities, see www.iconindiana.org. Our congregation’s point of contact for Wellspring is our Social Action and Service Department.

Painless Giving
Meijer’s is continuing its partnership with us through their Community Rewards program. It really is simple - you get a card which is scanned each time you do your shopping, groceries or other. The church gets 0.5% of everything you spend each month. Granted, we won't earn a fortune, but when it comes to being able to provide our outreach to the community, everything makes a difference. Get all the details at Meijer.com/rewards or off the table outside the kitchen.
