FAQs

You will be welcomed when you walk through the door. If you arrive early you can enjoy the art on display in the Langhinrichs Gallery.

  • meditation and reflection
  • singing
  • sharing of joys and sorrows

  • a sermon
  • an offering/collection

What should we wear?

Just as our beliefs are diverse, so is our clothing.  Members’ wear ranges from jeans to dresses and jackets but is generally casual and comfortable.

What is the religious background of your members?

As can be expected in a UU congregation, our members and friends have a diverse range of experiences with organized religion. Some come from traditional Christian backgrounds, some have embraced Eastern religions, some celebrate Earth-centered customs, and some don’t believe in God.

At UUCFW you are likely to find someone who shares your background and spiritual interests.

What do you mean by Welcoming Congregation?

Our congregation accepts and celebrates people from diverse sexual orientations and gender identities and expressions. We welcome members of the LGBTQIA+ community to fully participate in congregational life. Members of our congregation have advocated for marriage equality.

We have been a Welcoming Congregation since June 1997. Read more about UU Welcoming Congregations here.

So, everyone is welcome?

Yes. One of our central beliefs is respect for everyone. Whether brown, red, black, white, gay, straight, Christian, atheist, old or young … it does not matter. It can be difficult for people to fit in if they are certain that their way is the only way and they demand that others follow suit.

What makes Unitarian Universalists (UUs) different?

Our openness to different ideas and questions. We do not claim to have answers to life’s mysteries. Instead, a UU’s journey is discovering life’s meaning for oneself. We help each other find our own paths. You will find a diversity of beliefs within UUCFW and as a result be challenged to think differently about our world.

Is childcare offered during Sunday service?

Yes! We have a nursery care worker on staff. We also provide classes for elementary school-age children twice a month; the first and third Sundays; September through May. Please use this link for more details.

What time do you meet?

Services are at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday morning, both in person and via Zoom. Please follow this link for current information.

Check our current events page for other church happenings.

What if the weather is bad?

The decision to cancel will be made at least three hours before a scheduled activity. Check our website, Facebook page, voicemail, or local television stations. An email will be sent to all who are on our list.

Whenever the city declares a level 3 emergency that requires people to stay off the streets, church activities will be cancelled, but this will not be communicated as described above.

If you find that your question is not answered on this page, please email us or call us at 260-744-1867.
